Edwin van Zoeren

- Tell us a little about your background?

I’m from Holland, 24 years old and born in Ridderkerk, near Rotterdam. You may not expect it, but I work as a nurse in a hospital and currently studying for the Cardiac-Care-Unit. Not so blue at all..

- What made you start your own Dutch Denim Diary?

I started wearing dry denim a couple years ago, and I shared this hobby and interest on my personal Instagram-account, along with other great guys on Instagram. I got to learn Diederik (@diec0) via social media and he was also living in Ridderkerk around that time. We had this idea of showing the world the fading potential of the Dutch denim brands worn in by other Dutch guys. This became bigger and bigger and in a half year we already shared 300 worn in jeans.

- Where does the name come from?

The name comes from the fact that we share worn in jeans Dutch jeans, from virgin to vintage. Some sort of diary with a unique worn in pattern or story to tell. We now stepped off our first idea, and now sharing also foreign brands from Dutch owners and worn in Dutch denim with foreign owners. And this sort of works.. More people are able to share their worn in jeans.

- What inspires you to focus on Denims (Jeans)?

Denim, especially dry denim, has this unique potential of becoming the best faded jeans ever. Everyone who wears dry denim has their own pattern. The jeans eventually tells a story about how you live your life. People graduated in them, worn them when you become a parent, build a house.. You name it. It is amazing how dry denim can evolve in something unique. That what inspires me.

- How would you describe your own aesthetic?

My personal aesthetic is a mix with quality basics, dry selvedge denim and some good pair of shoes/sneakers or boots. I have a preference for Denham, who creates good basic items with great details, that’s why my wardrobe is mostly based on their items, which been collected over the years.

- How does your Instagram page is differ from others?

I try to post different photo’s. But my page is built on showing worn in dry denim for every twenty days. I keep track on how many days I wear all of my jeans. And I’d like to post some outfit posts or items I recently bought. I’m not the one that shows his daily activities on Instagram, because I also try to keep some things private. So it’s mostly clothing and dry denim. Maybe that’s something that differs from others.

- What have you learned along the way in the 6 months you have started with your page Edwin?

I learned that a lot of people wear dry selvedge denim and likes to share them with the world. It is great to receive mails from people and the story that belongs to the jeans. We are pleased to say the account is starting to be a little successful online and has a lot of potential for growth. The fact that we only started this six months ago, says enough.

- What is your Favourite pair of Jeans you have? And Why?

My favourite pair is my current project. It’s a 14 oz. Japanese dry denim from Denham. The VJS Kaihara fabric in a Razor fit. It’s been worn for more than 1,5 years now and it started to become nicer every day.

- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I think I will still be working at the hospital, don’t know in which position or function. I think my passion for indigo and dry denim will still be a part of my life. Maybe one day, I’ll have my own brand or have a small company with sells great clothing. I’m still young and ambitious.. time will tell.
